Quality Meat Scotland Press Release
Royal Seal Of Approval for Local Restaurant
Proud members of the prestigious Scotch Beef Club, the owners of La Potinière
restaurant received the further accolade of being presented to
HRH The Princess Royal at a gala dinner
at Edinburgh Castle to celebrate their achievement.
HRH The Princess Royal was guest of honour
at the event organised by Quality Meat Scotland, the representative body of the Scottish beef and lamb
industry which co-ordinates the Scotch Beef Club.
Keith
Marley and Mary Runciman whose restaurant is in Gullane's Main
Street joins top restaurants owners from all over the UK, including
Brian Turner Mayfair and The Three Chimneys in the Isle of Skye,
to earn membership of what is widely regarded as an exclusive
club.
Mr
Keith Marley Said: "We were delighted to hear that our restaurant
is among the first fifty in the UK to be awarded membership of the Scotch Beef Club.
At the La Potinière Restaurant we are proud to insist
on only using quality products such as Scotch beef on our menus.
The endorsement by HRH The Princess Royal
of our continued support for Scotch beef was a welcome reward
for our efforts on behalf of our loyal customers."
Quality
Meat Scotland Chairman, Jim Walker, said: "Restaurants which
are successful in their applications have to meet a strict set
of criteria designed to promote and protect the integrity of Scotch
beef. The ‘blue chip’ members are all
passionate about serving up Scotch beef to their discerning customers.
As Scotch Beef Club members they agree to promote Scotch beef
clearly and unambiguously on their menus and are willing to produce
evidence detailing the origin of their beef during our spot check
inspections."
The
historic setting of the Great Hall provided a fitting backdrop
for the dinner. Guests including European journalists and customers
enjoyed a traditional Scottish menu which not surprisingly included
a fillet of Scotch beef.
The evening
closed with the Beating of the Retreat by the 52nd
Lowland Regiment.
